Fear & Faith

“The willingness to not be in denial….is a tipping point in a culture that needs to

shift” Angel Kyodo Williams

“To let yourself feel is hard” Krista Tippett

While listening to these two teachers who provoke thought, emotion, and yes, more questions, I came away with hope.

I’m not optimistic. But I am hopeful. I’m hopeful because I believe we are evolving.

We can’t be in denial about what is happening because if we are paying attention at all, it’s in our face. Sifting through several sources of information from around the globe daily, I notice threads of possibility.

I won’t offend you with slogans that are almost impossible to achieve if you are a real human with thoughts & emotions. We are finding our way through the fog with only the beam of a flashlight. We are moving along a continuum of faith & fear.

Sometimes fear wins….it’s all so much. Faith isn’t the same as trust. We trust in the 3-D world, we have faith in the unseen world.

And, faith also requires action…verbs.

“This is my living faith, an active faith, a faith of verbs: to question, explore, experiment, experience, walk, run, dance, play, eat, love, learn, dare, taste, touch, smell, listen, speak, write, read, draw, provoke, emote, scream, sin, repent, cry, kneel, pray, bow, rise, stand, look, laugh, cajole, create, confront, confound, walk back, walk forward, circle, hide, and seek.”

Terry Tempest Williams

What is the culture we are willing to create, even if we have not yet experienced it?
