I have a sign I made on the wall next to my computer to remind me daily what I am willing to say yes to. It says:
"I have learned that taking my work out in the world has always been my calling, and, it will not change my commitment to a quiet, reflective lifestyle."
I made it to remind myself of the times I said yes when I was already over-extended and thought I had to keep going.
Driving ourselves into the ground for the sake of anything doesn't work.
And, our culture believes more is better, there is never enough, and that is just how it is.
When I look back, I am hoping I won't say I didn't take the time to be quiet and reflect. I hope I will be grateful that I said yes to being in places conducive to my well-being.
Making conscious choices requires reflection.
It takes commitment, practice, and willingness.
I wonder what this virus is teaching us?
The consistent message from my clients has been, "I have spent more time
with my family and my children in the past 8 weeks than the past 8 years, and
I don't want to go back to the way it was."
Believe it or not, it's a choice.
